About CISMAL

The unity of criteria and a clear methodology made CISMAL a central point of reference for the adoption of the Social Inclusion Program by different countries in the continent.
The Centre has given rise, in these 12 years, to a network with a high leadership level in every country involved in the Program.


Jamaica, 1996

With 9 young instructors sent by the Argentine Fund for International Cooperation(FOAR) and the OAS (Organization of American States) the Carribbean Chamber Orchesta was launched in Kingston. This Program was in accordance with a national Project managed by the National Ministry of Education. M° Darío Ntaca wrote a detailed methodology for tge establishment of a National System for Youth Orchestras. The project consisted in a mulitlateral fund joined by the local counterpart CASA (Caribbean Academy for the Sciences and the Arts).


Argentina, 1996

The Youth Orchestra of the Province of Buenos Aires was created with the agreement of the Governor. This Orchestra performed under Maestro Ntaca and other conductors in several cities in the Province. It was an important step for the launching of several youth orchestras in the area.


Barbados, 1997

The National Government of Barbados presented the Methodology created by M° Darío Ntaca, again with the support of FOAR and OAS, in May 1997. A bilateral agreement was signed and an exchange Program was created for trainig of young Barbadians at the Center.  During his stay in this country,M° Ntaca conducted several times the Barbados National Youth Orchestra.

Ecuador, 2000/2001

The Inter_American Development Bank implemented the first Social Inclusion Orchestra in the country. Following the idea of the Bank´s President, a 4 member team from CISMAL (Argentina, Paraguay and Perú) was called to work in the margianl areas of Guayaquil under the leadership of the Huancavilca Foundation. This successful program rapidly spread in other countries in the continent under the IDB auspices.


Paraguay, 2002/2003

M° Ntaca is appointed by IDB to repeat the Program developed in Ecuador. It is a project of larger proportions involvng over 80 youth from an orphan home in Asunción (Don Bosco Home) undertaken by CISMAL and the Don Bosco Foundation. With the help of Fundación Sinfonía, who provided a symphonic equipment of high quality,a state-of-the-art rehearsal hall was built in the home premises. Several CISMAL instructors were called to initiate the Program and to offer young teacher in Paraguay a tool to access a socially diverse group


CISMAL today

CISMAL, within the last 11 years, has become a network with a considerable level of local leadership, in every associated country.Hundreds of youths from the Americas gather around social programs to excel in their artistic development. CISMAL affiliates extend in over 15 countries in the continent. Several institutional agreements with North American and European Universities, provide the social paradigm that allows the inclusion of participants from all the Americas. Currently, CISMAL is considering how to put in practice the Program in different countries and is receiving ongoing proposals from ONG´s as well as National, Provincial and Municipal authorities.
